Archie Bray Residency, Day 1

Seattle Waterfront
Yesterday I left Seattle where I had for four days participated in that feast of ceramics that is the NCECA Conference, with its attendant plethora of exhibitions spread over a geographically impossibly wide area, and flew to Helena, Montana, to start my residency at the Archie Bray.

Stormy clouds over the old brickworks yesterday evening

The sign by the door of my studio.....

Studio 9am

The train kiln - I do not think I can fill it in the time I have here

But perhaps this Catenary kiln?

Gail Nichols bowl just outside my door

Morning's work using Grolleg porcelain

The air is so dry these bowls can be finished in one day
