Beetle from Missoula Potsketch Auction and ants for cups

http://www.theclaystudioofmissoula.org/pages/potsketch.html
This is my contribution to the Potsketch on-line Auction, which culminates next weekend with a fund-raising event in Missoula.

I have been drawing and painting ants prior to engraving, or carving them on cups: it helps to have drawn them a few times and to have sorted out just how many legs they have...

I have also seen some fine old trucks around Flagstaff, such as this one, parked on LeRoux Street. I am planning to do some linocuts of them.

hey. lookin good. here's some local beetle hype for you. the Mountain Pine Beetle has been ravaging the Pine trees of Montana for the last few years. Here's a quick article about it..but there's a lot more info out there if you're interested. Thousands and thousands of acres have been destroyed due to these little guys. And on the flip side, has left a lot of free pine for the wood fire people..hah..

Interesting beetle - I will try and incorporate it on a cup - I have heard that they have a similar problem around Flagstaff.
